CO2 lasers have long been celebrated for their effectiveness in addressing a range of skin concerns, including wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and skin tightening, while also promoting balanced skin tone.
What sets the Tetra CO2 apart is its exclusive ability to deliver a full ablative treatment without the associated downtime, a procedure known as the CoolPeel™.

Why Opt for the Tetra CO2 CoolPeel™?

Traditionally, CO2 laser skin resurfacing treatments came with significant downtime. However, the Tetra CO2 laser system provides us with remarkable versatility and control, allowing for the delivery of precise energy at specific depths and speeds. This approach achieves superficial skin resurfacing without the excessive heat that typically affects surrounding skin. This unique characteristic enables us to deliver immediate aesthetic improvements without the inconvenience of downtime, hence the term CoolPeel™.

What Are the Advantages of Tetra CO2 CoolPeel™ Laser Treatments?

By precisely targeting the superficial skin layer, damaged skin is effectively removed, unveiling a more vibrant and healthier appearance.
The precision and control afforded by the Tetra CO2 CoolPeel™ can address various surface imperfections, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Sun damage and age spots

  • Enlarged pores

  • Acne scarring

  • Uneven skin tone and texture

  • Skin crepiness and laxity

These treatments offer a non-invasive solution to enhance your skin's overall health and vitality.

PRIOR TO THE TREATMENT:

To prepare for your procedure, kindly adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Sun Exposure: Refrain from prolonged sun exposure for a period of 4 weeks before your scheduled treatment. If you need to step out briefly, apply a sunscreen containing zinc oxide with a minimum SPF of 30+.

  • Anticoagulants: If your medical condition allows, avoid taking anticoagulants for 10 days leading up to the treatment. It is advisable to consult your physician regarding this matter.

  • Topical Agents: Cease the use of any irritating topical products for 2-3 days before the procedure. This includes discontinuing topical retinoid therapy and chemical exfoliants 3-5 days prior to treatment, and bleaching products 2 days before.

  • Skin Type Considerations: Patients with darker skin types are encouraged to apply a topical treatment that inhibits melanin production for 4 weeks before the treatment. Please discuss this with your provider if it applies to you.

  • Herpes Simplex History: If you have a history of herpes simplex disorder (cold sores), inform your provider in advance. You may need to be prescribed prophylactic medication before the treatment.

  • Hydration: Over the course of seven days leading up to the procedure, make it a practice to moisturize your skin both in the morning and evening. Additionally, aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to ensure your skin is well-hydrated and optimize treatment results.

  • Clean Skin: On the day of your treatment, arrive with clean skin. Avoid applying lotion, makeup, perfume, powder, or bath/shower oil to the area being treated.

  • Face Coverings: Be prepared to refrain from wearing face coverings for 24 hours following the procedure.

To enhance the safety of your treatment, you will be required to sign a consent form confirming your compliance with these pre-treatment recommendations, as well as your understanding of the post-treatment instructions.

One of the primary advantages of a CoolPeel procedure is its minimal downtime. You can anticipate some redness, akin to a mild sunburn, for a day or two, but this should not hinder your regular daily activities. Your skin may feel dry and scaly during the healing process, so it is essential to keep it well-hydrated.

POST - TREATMENT GUIDELINES:

After your treatment, you can expect the following sensations and changes in your skin:

  • Sensations: Patients may experience a warm or sunburn-like sensation for approximately one hour following the treatment. The skin may also feel rough, akin to sandpaper, for a duration of 3-4 days post-treatment.

  • Redness Duration: For Cool Peel treatments, the average duration of redness typically lasts 24-48 hours, though it may extend longer for Tetra treatments.

  • Emollient Application: Apply a thin layer of emollient to the treated area and continue to keep the area well-hydrated. Our office offers Alastin Soothe & Recovery Balm for purchase to assist in this process.

  • Avoidance of Touching or Cleaning: Refrain from touching or cleaning the treated area for the initial 24 hours. You may resume using a gentle cleanser on the morning following your treatment.

  • Pillowcase and Elevation: Sleep with a clean pillowcase and slightly elevate your head for added comfort.

  • Cooling Measures: If needed, you can use a cool misting spray or clean ice packs for comfort.

  • Makeup: Avoid applying makeup for at least 24-48 hours following a Cool Peel treatment, and possibly 5-7 days for Tetra treatments. If you do use makeup, opt for mineral makeup to maintain clear pores and promote proper skin healing and breathing.

  • Facial Coverings/Masks: Do not use facial coverings or masks until your skin no longer appears compromised, red, or scaly.

  • Sun Exposure and Physical Activity: Stay away from sun exposure, intense workouts, and excessive sweating until the redness has completely subsided.

  • Treatment Frequency: To achieve your desired results, it is recommended to repeat the CoolPeel treatment in a series of 3-4 treatments.

These guidelines are essential for your post-treatment care and will help you achieve the best possible results.
