What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves the use of a device equipped with fine, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin's surface. This innovative procedure aims to stimulate the body's natural healing response, promoting the production of collagen and elastin—two essential proteins responsible for maintaining skin structure, elasticity, and overall youthful appearance.

During a microneedling session, the device creates tiny punctures in the outermost layer of the skin, triggering a healing process that includes the generation of new skin cells and the restructuring of the underlying connective tissue. The controlled injury and subsequent healing encourage the production of collagen, leading to improved skin texture, reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and enhanced overall skin quality.

Key benefits of Microneedling include:

Collagen Production: Microneedling stimulates the production of collagen, a crucial protein that contributes to skin firmness and elasticity.

Reduced Wrinkles and Fine Lines: The procedure can help minimize the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging, promoting smoother and more youthful-looking skin.

Scar Improvement: Microneedling is often used to address the appearance of scars, including acne scars and surgical scars, by encouraging the regeneration of healthy skin tissue.

Improved Skin Texture: By promoting cell turnover and collagen formation, microneedling can enhance overall skin texture, making it smoother and more even.

Reduced Pore Size: The treatment may lead to a reduction in the size of enlarged pores, contributing to a more refined skin surface.

Enhanced Absorption of Topical Products: The micro-injuries created during microneedling temporarily increase the skin's permeability, allowing for better absorption of topical skincare products.

Microneedling is a versatile and effective procedure that can be customized to address various skin concerns. It is important to consult with a qualified skincare professional to determine the most suitable approach for individual skin needs and goals.

Microneedling does it all: stimulates collagen and elastin production, reduces wrinkles, fine lines, skin discolorations, laxity, and improves texture. All with no downtime! Topical numbing is applied, to minimize any discomfort.

PRIOR TO YOUR MICRONEEDLING:

To get the most out of your Microneedling treatment and ensure a successful session, it's essential to prepare appropriately.

Here's a quick guide on what to do to prep for
your Microneedling:

  • Consultation: Schedule a Free consultation with us if you have any questions or concerns. This will allow you to discuss your skin concerns, treatment goals, and any specific requirements.

  • Sun Protection: Avoid excessive sun exposure for at least a week before your session. Sunburned or excessively tanned skin should not undergo the treatment. Use sunscreen with SPF to protect your skin.

  • Avoid Retinoids and Exfoliants: Stop using products containing retinoids or other exfoliating agents like alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) for about a week before your treatment. These products can make your skin more sensitive.

  • Skip the Peels: Avoid other facial treatments, chemical peels, or waxing in the area to be treated for a week before your HydraFacial. This helps prevent overstimulation and potential skin irritation.

  • Stay Hydrated: Proper hydration is key to the effectiveness of the treatment. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment to keep your skin well-hydrated.

  • Come with Clean Skin: On the day of your treatment, arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. We will cleanse your skin further before starting the procedure.

  • Avoid Smoking and Alcohol: Minimize or avoid smoking and alcohol consumption in the days leading up to your treatment, as these habits can dehydrate the skin.

  • Discuss Medications: If you are taking any medications or have medical conditions, inform usr during the consultation. Some medications may need to be temporarily discontinued or adjusted for the treatment.

  • Plan Your Downtime: While there is no significant downtime associated with Microneedling, some individuals may experience minor redness or sensitivity immediately after the treatment. Plan your schedule accordingly, as you can go about your daily activities afterward, but it's a good idea to avoid strenuous exercise and excessive sun exposure on the day of the treatment.

  • Follow Post-Treatment Instructions: We will will provide you with post-treatment guidelines, including recommendations for skincare products and routines to optimize your results.

POST - MICRONEEDLING GUIDELINES:

Post-treatment care is essential to maximize the benefits of your Microneedling session(s) and maintain the health and appearance of your skin.

Here are some key post-treatment care items and recommendations:

  • Moisturizer: Apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to your skin to lock in the benefits of the treatment. We can recommend a moisturizer suitable for your skin type.

  • Sunscreen: Protect your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Sunscreen is crucial to prevent damage and maintain your results. Reapply as needed, especially if you're spending time outdoors.

  • Avoid Makeup: After your treatment, it's best to avoid wearing makeup for at least a few days to allow your skin to breathe and heal. If you must wear makeup, opt for mineral makeup or products labeled as non-comedogenic.

  • Hydration: Drink plenty of water to stay well-hydrated. Proper hydration is vital for maintaining skin health and results.

  • Avoid Harsh Products: Steer clear of skincare products that contain retinoids, strong acids (AHAs, BHAs), or harsh exfoliants for a few days post-treatment. These can be too aggressive for your freshly treated skin.

  • Gentle Cleansing: Use a mild, non-abrasive cleanser to wash your face- we have some wonderful options available for you! Avoid scrubbing or using harsh cleansing tools that might irritate your skin.

  • Avoid Hot Water: When washing your face, use lukewarm or cool water. Hot water can strip your skin of moisture and exacerbate any post-treatment sensitivity.

  • Avoid Sweating: Steer clear of strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot baths for at least 24 hours post-treatment to prevent excess sweating and irritation.

  • Stay Hygienic: Keep your hands clean and avoid touching your face unnecessarily to prevent the transfer of dirt and bacteria.

  • Follow Our Recommendations: We will provide specific post-treatment instructions based on your skin type and the specific products used during your Microneedling Session.

  • Follow-Up Treatments: Depending on your skincare goals, we may recommend a series of Microneedling treatments. Be consistent with your treatment plan for the best long-term results.

  • Skin Maintenance: Incorporate a regular skincare routine that suits your skin type and addresses your specific concerns. We are happy to help you develop a regimen that will work best for you!

Keep in mind that everyone's skin is unique, and the post-treatment care may vary depending on your skin's needs.

Communicate any concerns or questions with us, and we can offer personalized guidance to help you achieve and maintain your desired results.
